Extortionists want you to vote Yes on Prop 8

This letter was sent to business donors to the No on Prop 8 campaign. It states that “Equality California is advertising on its website that it has received a contribution of at least $10,000 from you,” and goes on to request demand a donation to the anti-gay-marriage campaign in order to “correct this error.” Where it gets really creepy:

Were you not to donate comparably, it would be a clear indication that you are in opposition to traditional marriage. You would leave us no other reasonable assumption. The names of any companies and organizations that choose not to donate in like manner to ProtectMarriage.com but have given to Equality California will be published.

Here’s the link to donate to No On Prop 8. Show those bigots what you think of intimidation, dammit.

That’s incredibly creepy. It sounds like the letters a friend of mine gets from the Republican Party – “I would like to donate a) $1000 b) $500 c) $50 d) I do not support the Republican cause and am ok with liberalism sweeping America” I may have paraphrased, but not much.

    Wow, that’s so icky.

Also it suggests desperation, I hope.

Is that legal? That’s just not cool. I don’t even live in CA but if I had the money, I’d donate. What BS.

And totally desperate, if they have to get so low to try and blackmail the people they want to donate.

How terrible! I really hate the spin that is coming out about prop 8. In the booklet from the election board they made it sound like it was an issue about education. Those **%^&!

Everytime I see a yes on 8 sign on someone’s yard I curse them when I drive by…
